How to UNZIP archives

NOTE: The software on this web-site is packaged using Norton Commander's compression utility.
You can use many programs (including but not limited to PKUnzip, WinZip, Norton Commander's NCZIP) to unzip the software archives you download from this size (files with the .ZIP extension).
This site provides Info-ZIP's UNZIP.EXE which you can download and use for that purpose.
Info-ZIP's software (Zip, UnZip and related utilities) is free and can be obtained as source code or executables from various bulletin board services and anonymous-ftp sites, including CompuServe's IBMPRO forum and ftp.uu.net:/pub/archiving/zip/*.

Obtaining UNZIP.EXE

To download the executable UNZIP.EXE (57 kB), simply click on the filename and save the file on your harddisk.

Unzipping an archive

After you downloaded UNZIP.EXE and an archive with one of my programs (e.g. 95LGD12S.ZIP), I recommend to create a new folder (directory) on your hard disk and copy both UNZIP.EXE and the archive into this folder.

To unzip the file, open File Manager and open the folder you created in the previous step.

(Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0 or higher: Select Run in the Start menu and type WINFILE to launch the File Manager.)

In the File Manager, highlight the .ZIP file. Select File / Run from the menu. Move to the start of the filename and prefix it with UNZIP followed by a blank. Execute this command.

Close the DOS-Box when it is finished.

Hit F5 when you are back in the File Manager. You will see several new files in the folder. Most Windows programs include a set-up routine called SETUP.EXE or INSTALL.EXE. Launch SETUP or INSTALL respectively to set-up the program.

After successfully installing the program, you can delete the folder you created in the first step.

I recommend to keep a copy of both UNZIP.EXE and the .ZIP file you downloaded.

You may pass freeware and shareware versions of my programs to your friends. See the documentation included with the programs for redistribution requirements.
Please give only unmodified versions of the .ZIP file(s) you downloaded to your friends.

Expert Usage

To use UNZIP easily at DOS command prompts, copy UNZIP.EXE to any directory specified in your PATH environment variable.

Windows users may wish to associate .ZIP files with UNZIP.EXE.
